Once upon a time, I was fitted with hearing aids after a year of silence. I still remember when the aids were turned on — like a baseball bat whacking sounds against my brain, painfully, repeatedly.
Once upon a time, I was a deaf girl in a hearing school, dreaming of slipping through walls into other worlds without sound.
Once upon a time, I became a mother and wanted to give my children the world.
I put all those tales together to form “One More Fairy Tale.”
